Bringing Power Soccer to Cheyenne, Wyoming

The Freedom Power Soccer Foundation is excited to announce the launch of a new series of power wheelchair soccer practices and demonstrations in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This initiative represents an important step in our mission to expand access to adaptive sports and create meaningful athletic opportunities for power wheelchair users in communities that have historically had limited options.

Power soccer is one of the fastest growing adaptive team sports in the world. Designed specifically for power wheelchair users, the game is played indoors on a basketball court using specialized foot guards attached to power wheelchairs. Two teams of four players compete in a fast-paced, strategic game that emphasizes skill, teamwork, and precision. The sport is co-ed and open to girls and boys ages 7 and up, with no upper age limit.

A New Opportunity for the Cheyenne Community

With support from local partners, the Freedom Power Soccer Foundation has secured gym space at The Beast Gym in Cheyenne for a series of open practices and demonstrations. These sessions are designed to introduce power soccer to the community, welcome new players and families, and begin building the foundation for a future Cheyenne-based team.

Participants do not need prior experience to attend. Sport power chairs are available to try, and in some cases we can adapt a participant's current power wheelchair to help them get started. Families, caregivers, therapists, and educators are all encouraged to attend, observe, ask questions, and learn more about the sport.

Experienced Leadership and Proven Success

The Cheyenne program is led by Coach Brian Broyles, who lives in Cheyenne and brings over 13 years of coaching experience in power soccer and adaptive sports. Coach Broyles also leads the Colorado Rolling Rapids and Colorado Rolling Thunder teams, both supported by the Freedom Power Soccer Foundation.

The Colorado Rolling Rapids are a national-level power soccer team that competes at the highest level of the sport and qualifies for the US Power Soccer National Championships in Fort Wayne, Indiana, every year. That experience and competitive standard will help guide the development of a strong, sustainable program in Cheyenne.

Why Power Soccer Matters

Adaptive sports like power soccer provide far more than physical activity. They build confidence, encourage independence, create social connections, and give athletes the opportunity to compete as part of a team. For many power wheelchair users, power soccer is one of the few true team sports available.

Join Us

We are currently seeking players who use power wheelchairs and are interested in learning the sport and helping build a Cheyenne-based program. Whether you are a potential player, a family member, a therapist, or simply someone interested in adaptive sports, we invite you to attend a practice or demonstration and see what power soccer is all about.
