On Tuesday morning, September 15, the Colorado Rolling Rapids were invited to showcase Power Soccer at the Denver Public Schools Adapted Field Day. The event was held at the All-City Stadium track and field. Coach Brian Broyles, Richard, Dom, and Cam Broyles attended to represent the team. They wanted to connect with Carolann Skeats, an adaptive PE specialist across Denver Public Schools. Having her contact on standby will help secure a gym to practice in at one of the schools whenever the Rolling Rapids struggle to find an available gym on a certain date. The team mainly went to grab good contacts to help spread the word about Power Soccer and the Rolling Rapids. They also went to demonstrate Power Soccer and see if they could get interest from people with physical disabilities — and they did have some luck.

The demonstration area was on one corner of the football/soccer field. Cam Broyles was a little worried about playing on the turf since the Strike Force Chair wasn't really built for outdoor use. But it actually did pretty well, and he does not recommend anyone playing on turf, even though it was cool to do a full-field soccer corner kick at the end of the event. The turf made the ball slow down much faster than it does on a gymnasium floor because of the higher friction, so when they did the corner kick, Dom had to wait forever for the ball to get to him.
During the event, the Rolling Rapids identified two potential prospects (Hafeez and Senor), and Hafeez has already emailed the team. Cam compared Hafeez to Arsalan Memon from North Texas Fully Charged — a wing, maybe a striker, depending on how much he's willing to practice and how determined he is. Senor, however, will definitely be a wing and a good one. Of all the people who got a strike force chair, Senor was definitely the best player. He had good timing and was smart enough not to chase the ball, especially with how young he was.
Cam thought the PT therapists, the kids in the chairs, and their caregivers were very surprised by the sport and that they were fully out there independently playing. It was definitely a cool event to be part of, and the Foundation is thankful that Carolann Skeats invited the Rolling Rapids to share what Power Soccer is.
